How to Choose a Web Hosting Service (part 2)

December 30th, 2009

Avoiding web hosting scams

There are web hosting service provider sites which offer huge to unlimited amounts of web space and bandwidth. Frankly, do not believe in inflated claims such as unlimited web space or unlimited bandwidth. Simply this is something impossible on commercial realities of the current web hosting marketplace. These providers are either overselling their web services endangering the servers and the proper function of your web site or making a false claim. Thus, you need to choose a web hosting service which offers realistic amounts of web space and bandwidth as web hosting is not only about the web space and bandwidth, but also about the quality of the service you are offered and the promptness with which your needs are taken care of.

Make sure your web host provides a feature rich service

There are plenty of web hosting service providers out there who offers lesser features for higher prices while there are web hosting services who provides maximum features for lesser price. Although the situation used to be like this, nowadays most of the web hosting companies out there offers everything you ever need to have a high tech web site for a very affordable prices. So my advice to everyone is always look for the richness of hosting features of the web host your interested in. While at the same time keeping an open mind towards HSP’s who offers plenty of additional features.

Make sure your web hosting service is backed with “Price freeze or Price locked” Guarantee

This is very important as what this means is that your web hosting service provider may unethically increase it’s hosting package prices periodically after you purchase web hosting from them. If this happens, you will be very frustrated and wanting to change your host. Changing hosting services means going through unnecessary technical hurdles in order to make a trouble free and smooth transfer. Therefore always make sure to look for a reliable web hosting company which does not trouble you with unwarranted and unethical periodic increases of hosting plan prices.

New Internet Product And Services Review Site

December 30th, 2009

Hi, anybody that has been trying to do any kind of Internet marketing knows that you can easily get stuck in a rut. What I mean by that is you buy a product or service from the so called Internet gurus promising to make you rich in record time with little or no work. That just isn’t true in todays world. So when you fail to make money as claimed you look for another quick fix product to buy.

How many times have you gotten emails selling products or services guaranteed to make you money?

So you buy the product and download it only to have it sit on your computer hard drive and collect dust. Then you repeat the cycle over and over again. There is no magic bullet or magic software that you can buy that makes you rich over night. The truth is you have to try one program or service and stick with it until you see some success. Then if you succeed repeat the process over and over again.

Until now there really hasn’t been anyone or thing to help you figure out what product or service works or doesn’t work. You were pretty much alone with no direction. Well I for one am getting sick and tired of throwing good money after bad.

Now there is a Web site that offers review and ratings service that is free, thats right free. There is over a thousand Internet marketeers that tell you about different products and services related to Internet marketing. Its all about helping others on selecting software or services by giving reviews and ratings on them.

Over 1,000 Associate Editors and real people, just like you, review and rate Internet marketing services and products they’ve purchased and used. Products being reviewed by real users, like you, fall into many categories such as:

*Courses and Seminar *Software Products (Desktop and Server Side) Membership Sites * E books * Free Resources * MLM/Network Marketing * 3rd Party Payment Processors * Automation Tools * Forums and Discussion Boards * Hosting Services and much more…

There are NO AdSense™ ads, … NO Yahoo!™ ads, NO MSN™ ads, NO Affiliate Links (in reviews or on the site), … NO In-Your-Face Marketing Gimmicks or Tricks, … NO Upsells, No One Time Offer’s (OTO) and Nothing to Buy, … NO Ads Period.

So in conclusion if you want to see a refreshing change from the everyday sales job out there, come and check out the other guys. They are working for you and for free with no gain. Go put in your two cents worth or just browse the many categories of products to see how they stack up.

What is the best free Web Site Hosting Service?

December 28th, 2009

I’m looking for the best or one of the best free web hosting services. One that is free of ads and I want to build my Site from Scratch. I know my share of HTML so I would like to start with a "blank peice of the internet." I would also like to have a small forum. I know it’s alot to ask but i’m sure there is one out there. Much Help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jason,

I’m betting that you’re a brand newbie, or you wouldn’t have asked for the impossible - free service with no ads.

In the so-called free web hosting services, you’ll either get one with really no ads, but they’ll "force" you to register a domain name at $15 - $35 up front if you want to get their "free" hosting. That actually will cover for their "free" hosting with no ads. The other type you need not pay a single cent, but they’ll put up ads on all your pages at the most prominent positions.

There’s bound to have a catch somewhere. Here’s my advice:

If you’re building a non-profitable site to share, then go with the latter free service since you don’t pay a penny, though you get annoying ads on your pages.

But if you’re creating websites to make money, even if you’re just getting started building a brand new website from scratch, it’s good to get a paid web hosting service.

Below I’ll send you to a good article "Best Web Hosting Service For Internet Beginners" at ezinearticles.com that you can take a read, please refer to the source below.

You should gain a deeper insight into what’s actually good for you, even as a beginner.

Hope that helps ;)

Network communications between virtual machines?

December 28th, 2009

If I’m running multiple virtual machines (VMware) on one physical server host, and wanted to test an IDS with them. If the VMs are sending/receiving data to and from each other, does it leave the physical host, go out onto the network, or does it stay on the host? If all VMs are using the same physical NIC from the host, what MAC address problems come up on the switch?

When you set the VM instance to a Bridged Network Mode (rather than a NAT) it creates a bogus MAC address when you bind the virtual NIC to the Physical NIC and the DHCP server or switch will assign the VM’s virtual NIC an IP address.

Both VMWare and VirtualBox create a a vitrual loopback NIC on their host OS but this is used for NAT mode in VMs and traffic in Bridged mode should router through the switch. I may be wrong, but you can check this by looking at the number of hops traveled in a ping (look at TTL reduction)

Web Hosting for your Business: 5 Simple Questions

December 22nd, 2009

* Looking for the best hosting provider for your business can be overwhelming in the least. Any wrong choice or hasty decision could result in lost sales and revenue leading to heart-ache in an ever competitive market. Thus, the first and most important question arises: What type of hosting do you need?

For business purposes, free hosting is usually ill-advised. It can be unreliable and slow. Many free hosts also bog down your website with advertisements which would detract from your business.

Shared hosting services, on the other hand, may be effective for some small and medium sized businesses. Even some larger enterprises can do well on a feature rich shared hosting plan. Shared hosting may be an affordable way to get your website online; but at times your website may run slower than you desire as there will be multiple websites on one server.

Collocated hosting is where the business buys its own server. The hosting provider will then maintain the network but nothing else. You will need to hire or outsource for someone to maintain the server and take care of any problems that arise. This adds an even greater expense, but the hosting experience is usually reliable and secure.

Dedicated hosting is a cheaper option. Think of it as leasing a server from a website. Your website and yours alone will be on this server. There is unmanaged dedicated hosting which comes with limited support, or managed hosting in which your hosting provider will now provide extensive technical support, maintenance and management of your server. With dedicated hosting you can depend on high levels of reliability and security.

* What is the ‘uptime’? For a business website the highest possible uptime is critical. Do not even consider a host that can not guarantee an uptime of at least 99%. Ask the host if they keep tabs on their server uptimes. A particularly good web host should do so. If they monitor their servers properly they can quickly identify and solve problems. It is also a way for you to learn how reliable their services really are. You do not want to be paying for hosting only to find that your website is often offline.

* How much bandwidth is on offer? You do not want to select a plan with too little bandwidth for your website. On the other hand, you do not want to pay for an abundance of bandwidth that you do not need or will never use.
The amount of bandwidth will essentially tell you how much data can pass through the network during the month. The more bandwidth you have with a hosting package, the more website traffic your website is able to receive and handle each and every month. It may also be worth considering an ‘additional bandwidth’ option. This will give you some leeway on months when your website has even more traffic than usual. Having some extra bandwidth will help you to avoid having to pay overage fees in any given month.

Estimate how much bandwidth you will need before you start shopping for hosting. For example, multiply your estimated number of visitors X page size X expected number of views X 30 days. If your website offers downloads, factor this in too, as well as your own uploads and emails.

* What are the additional features available? E-Commerce is perhaps the most important for an online business. By using ecommerce hosting, you can easily sell products and services online without the need for any extensive technical knowledge.

An SSL certificate is an essential ecommerce feature. It is a method of protecting your customers’ private information. You do not want the possibility of their personal data or payment information to be accessed by anyone else on the Internet. By protecting your clients and offering them a secure ordering process, customers will be much more inclined to buy from you.

Some web hosts will provide ecommerce packages that can be customized. You can select the features that you need for the website (shopping cart, website statistics, secure logins, email accounts, etc.) In doing so you can increase the productivity of your website and will hopefully be able to make even more sales. However, always distinguish between those services that are provided for free of charge and those extras which you have to pay for.

* What support is available? You should always look for a host provider offering 24/7 customer support. If you ever experience problems with your hosting, you will want them solved immediately. Should your website ever be offline this is time that you may be losing customers and revenue.
What experience does the hosting company have? Before signing up with any host, it may be a good idea to give them a bit of presales test. This is an opportunity to see how friendly their support team is and how long they take to respond to your inquiries.

Take your time to search for a host that offers you with the bandwidth, disk space and applications needed for your website. Make sure that the host has been in business for awhile and appears stable. Ask them about how many workers they employ and how many websites they are currently hosting. You do not want to host with a company that will disappear in a few weeks.

It might be a good idea to tell the host a little bit about your intended website. What is the purpose of the site and how are you looking for the site to perform? You can also ask a host some questions about their hosting equipment. Find out if they own and operate their own data center. Ask for some information on their data center and the specs on their servers. What type of software do they use? What is their operating system? Questions like these can tell you more about the hosting services and help you to see how knowledgeable the staff is about the hosting services.

It is important to realize that a hosting provider, who may be ideal for one business, may not be suitable for yours. Most people make their final decision based on cost. However, I warn you to take your time and carefully consider what is available. Always remember the adage: ‘you get what you pay for.’ Happy hunting for your business host!

8 Block Formula to Start Your Internet Business - With No Money In Your Pockets

December 22nd, 2009

“I have no money to invest in my internet business” - I can hear you saying.

If you say this, you are in one out of these 2 situations…

1. You seriously have no money to spend. I can understand this situation as I was at the same place when I got started.

2. You have money, but you are not willing to invest in your internet business and take some risk to get started. This simply means that you are not serious enough to get started.

You are just giving your internet business career a try, but are not determined to get started.

This article is for those who seriously lack money but are completely determined to get started and put in all the efforts to make things work.

Congratulations, you are just like me. I too lacked money. Infact I started my internet business career when I was in college with no help and no money in pockets even to purchase a domain name and a hosting account.

Infact it was even difficult for me to pay my ISP charges at that time. Now the days are gone and now is the condition where I am running my own hosting server and providing services to my clients sitting from the comfort of my home.

But this article is NOT for me. It is for YOU. I will show you step by step how you can get started with your own internet business in next 2 days without spending a dime and then once you make some money, you will happily invest it in your internet business and grow it step by step as I did it.

So here YOU go with your no-cost internet marketing blueprint…

Step 1 - Product Research.

You need something to sell to make money. To get started I would advise you to join a quality affiliate program in the niche you are interested in and start promoting other people’s products.

There are thousands of affiliate programs where you can join for free and get started. Here’s a popular affiliate directory where you can search for affiliate programs that you can promote… www.associateprograms.com

Step 2 - Create an Ecourse.

Create a simple 10 day ecourse relating to your niche. You will provide this ecourse to your subscribers for free. Provide quality information in your ecourse and include your affiliate links in it.

Step 3 - Create a Simple Minisite.

Just move on to freesitetemplates.com and grab a template out there to create a simple minisite.

You can also get some cool minisite creation softwares like ‘Instant Site Maker’ and ‘Web Page O Matic’ on the net for free if you search them on Google.com

This will help you to create a one page minisite where you will include your optin offer and get your visitors to signup as leads and then follow them up with your ecourse.

Step 4 - Setup Your Autoresponder.

You can get free autoresponder service at freeautobot.com and getresponse.com.

Include your ecourse in the autoresponder system to follow up your subscribers.

Step 5 - Get A Home For Your Website.

You will need a hosting and domain name for your website. There are many sites that will give you a free hosting account but they will place ads on your site. One of them is geocities.com.

Also to shorten your hosting url you can use cjb.net which will help you to get a cool name for your site like yourname.cjb.net.

Step 5 - Track Your Visitors.

You can use a free service like statcounter.com to track your website statistics and visitors coming to your website.

Step 6 - Get Targeted Traffic to Your Site.

There are number of free ways you can use to promote your website. Some of the top ways in my list includes…

1. Writing and submitting articles to article directories like ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com.

2. Participating in discussion forums in your niche.

Step 7 - Re-Invest Your Profits.

Once you start making money reinvest your profits to get a hosting account, domain name, autoresponder service, website design software and make sure you invest in your internet marketing education.

Do this till you are completely up and ready with your internet business, after which you can start using part of your profits for your personal enjoyment and expenses.

Step 8 - Keep Yourself Educated.

Visit article directories like ezinearticles.com and read latest articles in various topics to learn more and more promotion tactics that you can use to make more money out of your website.

This is a simple game plan that you can use to start your internet business without investing a single penny and make your internet dreams come true.
