can't change the content of the webpage in the web hosting center?

March 31st, 2009

My employer is hosting a website on Godaddy.com. he want me to change some content in that website. However, I can't change anything in the website. I mean, I can change the files in the hosting control center, but when I go to the actual website, nothing changes. For example, I tested on the index.htm page. I looked through all the directories, there are only 2 index.htm files, 1 is in www,the other one is in public_html. I changed the content of them, even deleted them, the website still remains the same. I don't know what's wrong with it since I don't really know much about this hosting server thing.
I don't know if the following information will help but I will list them anyways.
in the godaddy.com it shows:
Operating system: linux
in the hosting center it has the following directories
access-logs
bizworld.ca
cpmove.psql
etc
mail
old_template
public_ftp
public_html
tmp
www
I looked through every single directory, but I dare not to tough any files in the directories other than public_html and www. because I have absolutely no idea what are they. and it has a .htaccess file in the public_html directory with a size of 0B.(again i dont know what that is ,just thought it might be important.)
I did refresh the webpage everytime i make any changes. i did save the file after i made changes. i tried to overwrite the original file which did not work. and now i deleted all the files in public_html&www, the website still runs ….

The folders/files to be edited are contained only in the public_html section. When reviewing the changes of your pages in your browsers, you must clear your cache or refresh using Ctrl + F5 to get the current page. Editing the pages online with the hosting service's editor, you need to be sure you save the changes, too. Best to edit locally and upload new changes to overwrite the old files via FTP. Suggest you make a backup of the pages before changes are made each time by numbering the file by revisin date.

What is the best free web host without ads and includes MySQL, PHP, and FTP Access?

March 31st, 2009

Any reliable host besides Jumpline or Digital Space please!

There are many web hosting providers and you might become confused to choose which one. It is very important that you choose a good web host. Good doesn't mean expensive. Good means reliable with great support.

Some people try to save money and choose to go with a free web host. They usually realize pretty quickly what a huge mistake that is. I’m all for free whenever possible, but free web hosting will end up costing much more than you save.

But, let's face it - how do you know if a web host is good or not? They all look pretty much the same and they seem like they know what they are doing, right? Well, I recommend reading reviews so that you may compare and become more familiar with the hosting companies before making a decision.

When you choose a web host, make sure they have excellent support. If you have a problem with your web site you want help now, not in a day or two.

Beat the Hype, Make it Simple and Make Money!

March 31st, 2009

Internet has truly transformed many people’s lives and created phenomenal successes for many. Whenever one checks out the online ads and/or other marketing campaigns, it is not uncommon to see a number of self-proclaimed internet marketing gurus who almost all claimed they made millions in x number of days or consistently raking in 5 figure a month. Some of them even go to the extent of showing you “proof” to demonstrate to you that they are no fluke. While some of these gurus undeniably earn their rights to such claims, there are many who are simply bluff and the products they sold were simply scams! Believe me, scams could even happen with the so-called product satisfaction guarantee!

With all the hype and scams surrounding many of these products out there, how does one choose the right business for yourself to succeed in the online digital world? Undeniably, having your own products is perhaps the best form of running an online business. You could pocket all the money you make and be in total control of your business. However, the major downside is that you need to create everything from product design to delivery from scratch. Most importantly, you still need to have a very good idea to start off with, if you do not already have one!

Most people, just like myself, started off with selling or promoting third party’s product, or more commonly known as Affiliate Marketing. Money is earned in the form of commission when a sale or referral is made. That’s the easy part. Here comes the difficult part. You still need to find the right product to promote first and foremost. Here’s what you can do:

1. Research on product to sell and assess the supply and demand of your product. Use keywords to do your research, using popular keyword research tools such as Keyword Suggestion or Wordtracker. You should aim for a niche market (with associated unique keywords), so that you don’t necessarily have to compete with the big boys or faced with excess competition. Stand out among a smaller crowd is better than getting drowned in the sea yet no one will even notice!

2. Once you found the right product and keywords, you need to establish your sales strategy, i.e., how do you intend to promote your product over the internet? Basically, you need to come up with the sales page and with it the relevant content. Your sales page must be attractive enough to entice people to purchase your product. Some technical know-how to construct the webpage is required to do this. Alternatively, you may use ready-made templates from website builder software that offers this. If this sounds too technical for you, you may also engage professional or third party developers to do this for a fee. However, bear in mind that this can become rather costly for starters.

3. Next you need to purchase a suitable domain name (or website URL) for your business. Besides, you need to purchase a hosting plan in order to host all your product data and web pages, including the domain. Some level of technical know-how is required here, such as how to host the information, transfer files from your PC to the host, allow the domain name to be hosted on your site, etc.

4. If you are selling your own product, you will need to put up a Shopping Cart or at the very least, a payment button where one can make payment through credit card. You need to cater for refund as well in the event where you offer product satisfaction guarantee.

5. Once the above are done and tested, the good news is that your website is considered done and ready to launch. However, this is far from over. You need to learn how to attract traffic to your website so that potential sales can be made. The higher the traffic, the more likelihood your prospects will buy. Just imagine this, a highway without traffic is as good as no business even if your shop is placed at the most strategic spot of the highway!

6. There are many ways to attract traffic to your website. These are some of them:

a. Advertise through Google Adwords, media or equivalent

b. Engage your own sales force or affiliates if you are promoting your own product. Provide ample incentives.

c. Channel traffic from your own Blog and/or other websites to your website;

d. Give special promotion with a limited time offer

e. Participate in forums, community sharing and social bookmarking websites in order to attract traffic to your site;

f. Be a publisher of articles at authoritative sites and direct the traffic to your site, etc.

7. Monitor your website, sales performance and provide support to any enquiries, technical assistance and product delivery (if any). If this is done through Affiliate Marketing, your principal should handle the rest.

8. Last but not least, fine tune your website as it goes along. Try different marketing campaigns to determine which works better than another.

Is that easy or complicated? These are only the basic principles of getting your online business going! With each and every step, many internet newbies could get caught and struggle with particularly the technical bits and pieces, let alone making sales!

So is there a better solution out there that can manage all these and/or relieve some of the technical complexities at the very least, so that you can concentrate on building the business itself? Yes, there sure is!

The wonderful thing about this program is that it is completely turnkey and it is specifically designed to target the niche market. You could choose your own private domain name for FREE and there is absolutely no need to dwell with HTML codes and any FTP software! Furthermore, you can have your new website up and running in a matter of hours but I would say, let’s be conservative here, you can have it within a day instead because one still need to put in some decent amount of content. After all, content is what you need most to drive traffic to your site!

What do you do next after launching your site? Sit back and wait for money to roll-in? Of course not! Like I mentioned earlier, you need to continuous drive traffic to your site. Another great aspect about this program is that it will provide you all the essential practical guidance on how to generate lots of traffic to your site. Believe it or not, this program actually goes one step further to promote traffic to your site and guarantee your first sale!

Just as important, they have an excellent supporting framework to make sure that your business is successful. That could only mean one thing…this program is here for long term!

Once you become a member of this program, you will also learn how to earn residual income from it.

For true turnkey online affiliate home business opportunities, I would highly recommend this.

Essential Marketing Tools For Affiliates

March 31st, 2009

Time and time again, it has been said that affiliate marketing is, without a doubt, the quickest and most efficient way of earning a living online. There are a variety of reasons for this saying. For starters, most affiliate programs do not require any enrollment fees. There is no financial investment on the part of the affiliate. Secondly, the affiliate is only tasked with pre-selling the affiliate merchants products. The sales page, the payment processing, the digital delivery, and the post sales services shall be borne by the affiliate merchant.

These should not mean that the affiliate should want in commitment, however. As a matter of fact, an affiliates success wholly depends on how much commitment he could give the program, and how much effort he could invest to pursue such commitment.

Sometimes, this requires some monetary expenses. Getting a web host, for example, as well as a domain name, would necessitate some cash to be laid out. Getting professionally made graphics to make his website attractive can also cost some dough, in the event that the affiliate cannot do this for himself. PPC advertising can equally be just as costly, if not even more, if the affiliate would ever decide to utilize this option.

But not everything needs to come at a price. There are vital tools that would help ensure the affiliates success, and they can be availed of for free.

Here are the top five tools under this category. Knowing them would give you the edge you need. Using them would give you the head start that would push your online enterprise to the next level.

1. WordPress Blog. WordPress is a movable-type blog. It is a software program you could download and use to create your own blogs which you could upload in your own server. You will not have to settle for the words blog spot or live journal or xanga to be attached to your URL. You could host your blog under its own domain name, or as another page in your main website. Blogs are great marketing tools. They get indexed quite quickly by the search engines, and often, the figure prominently well in the search engine results pages (SERPs). They could also give your main website the backlinks it needs to boost its own page rank. Additionally, a blog can be customized to become your main website. The primary advantage of this approach is the convenience you will receive when it comes to publishing content. Download the WordPress client for free from wordpress.com .

2. NVU Website Creator. Macromedia Dreamweaver is too expensive? Microsoft Front Page is too complicated? Then the NVU Website Creator is the program for you. This software program streamlines the website creation process through an interface that is easy to use, but powerful enough to make professional-looking web pages. Download the client for free from nvu.com .

3. Backlink Builder. If you are maintaining your own website, either as a review center for your affiliate programs products, or as an affiliate mall for the same, or even as a blog which promotes the aforementioned digital items, you will need to build a thorough list of backlinks to increase your page rank. The higher your page rank is, the better chances it will have of appearing in the first few pages of search engine results. Don`t know where to start? Use the free tool available at webconfs.com/backlink-builder.php to discover all the places where you could leave some links to your website.

4. Keyword Selector Tool. Keywords are the primary ingredients of any search engine optimization (SEO) campaign. You will use them for your meta tags, your h1 tags, your ALT tags, your page title, and your content. You will even use them for the articles you will submit to the many article directories in the World Wide Web. The proper use of keywords would result in the more efficient documentation of your website so that the search engine spiders will have an easier time finding your web pages for any relevant query. And since 80% of the traffic that you will be able to generate for your website would come from the search engines, keywords become the most essential aspects of your site building efforts. Need to find the right keywords? Go to nichebot.com and use their powerful tool to determine the profitability of the keywords related to the affiliate products you will be promoting.

5. Statcounter. You will need to study your websites statistics so that you will know what you are doing wrong, as well as replicate what you are doing correctly. For this purpose, simply copy and paste the code that will be provided by statcounter.com to get in-depth reports about the performance of your website.

All of these tools would improve your performance as an affiliate. And the fact that they all come without charge just makes the deal even sweeter. Try them out. Chances are, you will realize that the best things in life can be free after all.

free web hosting supporting asp?

March 29th, 2009

I don't think there is such a thing! I really think free web hosting is a waste of time. You have to deal with ugly 3rd party banners and things like that all over your site. Kind of takes away the "your" in your site. You should consider going to a website like http://www.hostgumbo.com … they have an up to date pricing and features comparison chart for the top 2009 web hosts. The site is free to use and they also run really cool promotions and giveaways. They jut paid for the first 3 months of my hosting just for using their site!
